Brand Audit Report

How often ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok name your brand unprompted when asked about your category.

How it works

What is the Brand Audit Report?

The Brand Audit Report is a free tool that asks the GPT, Gemini and Grok models seven buying questions in your category, none naming your brand, and counts how often each engine names you. It returns an audit score, each engine's mention rate, a ranking of the vendors the engines named, and the sources they would cite.

How to use the Brand Audit Report

  1. Enter your brand name as buyers know it, such as Acme.
  2. Optionally add your website, such as example.com, so answers and sources that point at your domain count as yours.
  3. Press Check brand audit report, then Sign up free to unlock to see the result.
  4. Read the audit score, the prompt evaluations out of seven, and each engine's mention rate under Your brand mentions.
  5. Check the competitive ranking for who the engines reach for instead, and Top Citations for the sites they associate with your category.

What is an AI brand audit?

An AI brand audit checks how AI answer engines treat your brand when a buyer asks for a recommendation. This one asks the GPT, Gemini and Grok models the same seven buying questions, none of which contain your brand name, and counts how often each engine names you anyway.

The questions come from the engines. Each is first asked what it believes about your brand, and the first to answer supplies the core topics the seven questions are written around. Any question that leaks your brand name is dropped, because a question that names you guarantees a mention and measures nothing.

How is the brand audit score calculated?

Each engine's mention rate is the share of the seven answers that named you, shown under Your brand mentions. The audit score puts each rate through a 1.8 multiplier capped at 98, averages it across the engines that answered, and labels it Excellent (80 and up), Good (50 and up), Average (20 and up) or Very Poor.

Prompt evaluations and the citation score count the questions where at least one engine named you. The competitive ranking lists the five vendors the engines named most: the leader scores 80, the rest in proportion, and your brand enters at its audit score.

Where do the cited sources come from?

From the engines themselves. With each answer, every engine is asked which pages it would cite, and Top Citations ranks the domains it named: the top four, then everything else as other sources. These are the sites each engine associates with your category.

The split beside the citation score sorts those domains three ways: your brand (your website's domain), competitors (a domain containing the name of a vendor the engines named) and third party (everything else). Add your website so your own domain's share is counted.

Why does AI have outdated information about my brand?

Because a model's knowledge stops at its training cutoff, and it does not know that. Pricing you changed, a positioning you moved off, a product you retired: all of it can still be recited fluently, because from the model's side those facts never stopped being true.

You cannot edit a model, so the fix is in what it reads next. State the current facts plainly on first-party pages that are easy to quote, get them repeated in sources that get crawled, such as documentation, press and comparison pages other people write, and remove or date the old claims on your own site. Then run this audit again to see whether the answers have moved.

Questions

What is a brand audit?
A brand audit is a review of how a brand is seen by customers, in search and against competitors, compared with how it wants to be seen. This Brand Audit Report covers one part of that: how often the GPT, Gemini and Grok models name your brand when a buyer asks for a recommendation.
How do you do a brand audit for AI search?
To audit a brand for AI search, ask each AI engine the buying questions your customers ask, without your brand name in them, and record which brands come back. This tool does that across three engines and seven questions, then scores the results and ranks the vendors named in your place.
Why do ChatGPT and Gemini give different answers about my brand?
ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok give different answers because each was trained on different data, collected at different times. That is why this audit reports a mention rate for each engine instead of one blended number.
How often is ChatGPT updated with new information?
A model's knowledge stops at its training cutoff, and it learns nothing new about your brand until a newer model is trained and released. ChatGPT can search the web for current pages when a question needs them, which is why current, quotable pages about your brand matter.
How do I track brand mentions in ChatGPT and Gemini?
Track brand mentions in ChatGPT and Gemini by asking both the same kind of buying questions over time and recording who they name. Running this audit every few months does that; the seven questions are regenerated each run, so compare the scores and mention rates rather than single questions.
