Grok Visibility Checker
How often Grok names your brand or your site when asked the questions your buyers ask.
How it works
What is the Grok Visibility Checker?
The Grok Visibility Checker is a free tool that asks a Grok model five buying questions about your category and checks whether the answers name your brand. The questions are written from your home page with your name left out. The result shows how many answers mentioned you, your position among the vendors named, and which competitors appeared instead.
How to use the Grok Visibility Checker
- Enter your website's domain, such as example.com. The tool reads that page's title, meta description, first heading and first paragraph to work out what you sell.
- Press Check Grok visibility. Grok writes five buying-intent questions from your page, any that contain your name are dropped, and each one is asked with no hint that a brand is being tested.
- Press Sign up free to unlock to see the report. It has already run; signing up only reveals it.
- Read the Citation Score, the share of the five answers that named you. Explicit Citation counts answers that gave your domain; Implicit Citation counts answers that used your name without it.
- Open Analysis Steps, then each query under Query Generation, to see your position in that answer and the competitors Grok named instead.
Does Grok search the web and X?
Yes, in the Grok app. Grok can search the web and posts on X before it answers, which makes it quick to pick up what people are posting about right now.
It also answers from what the model has learned, which changes when xAI trains and releases a new model. Both depend on the same thing: how often people name you, in public, when they talk about your category.
What helps a brand show up in Grok answers?
Being talked about by other people, in the words buyers use: launch posts, comparison threads, someone answering a question by naming you. Your own pages matter less than what others say about you.
Consistent naming matters too. A brand written three ways across three channels is harder for any model to treat as one company, so pick one spelling and use it everywhere.
Questions
- Can Grok search the web?
- Yes. Grok can search the web and X posts in real time in the Grok app, and it uses what it finds to write its answer. That live search is separate from what the model learned in training.
- Is Grok trained on X data?
- Yes. Grok is trained partly on public posts from X, and X users can opt out of having their posts and Grok conversations used for training in their privacy settings. That makes what people post about your brand on X part of what Grok learns from.
- Where does Grok get its information?
- Grok gets its information from its training data and, when it searches, from the live web and posts on X. Both reward brands that other people name often and consistently.
- What is Grok SEO?
- Grok SEO is the work of getting a brand named in Grok's answers. It depends less on your own pages than traditional SEO does, and more on how often and how consistently other people name you on X and across the web.
