The Fake Instagram Post Generator is a free tool that builds a mockup of an Instagram feed post and exports it as a PNG. You set the username, profile photo, verified badge, location, post image, caption, likes, comments and posting time, pick a Light or Dark theme, and download the image at 1×, 2× or 4× size.
How to use the Fake Instagram Post Generator
- Fill in Username and Location, upload a Profile photo, and tick Verified badge if the account should have one.
- Upload the Post image and write the Caption. Hashtags and @mentions show in Instagram's link colour.
- Set Likes and Comments, and type the Posted time, such as 2 hours ago.
- Pick a Theme, Light or Dark. The live preview updates as you edit.
- Choose an export size of 1×, 2× or 4× and press Download PNG.
How do you make a realistic Instagram post mockup?
Get the small details right. Use a username that follows Instagram's rules, lowercase with periods or underscores, and keep the likes in proportion to the comments: a post with 1,284 likes might have a few dozen comments, not thousands. Write the Posted time the way Instagram does, such as 2 hours ago or 3 days ago.
The post image keeps its own shape, from tall 3:4 to wide 1.91:1, as it would in the feed. The mockup is drawn in your browser, and nothing you type or upload leaves it. Export at 2× for slides and web pages, and 4× where it will be printed or zoomed.
Is it legal to make a fake Instagram post?
Making a mockup is ordinary design work: pitch decks, ad concepts, client previews, teaching material and app screenshots all use them. What matters is how the image is used.
Use mockups for designs, pitches and planning, and label them as mockups so no one takes them for real posts.
