How it works
What is the Twitter Banner Maker?
The Twitter Banner Maker is a free tool that builds a 1500x500 pixel X header image from your words. Enter a headline, a supporting line and your handle, pick an accent colour, a background and a text alignment, and download a PNG. An optional guide shows where the profile photo covers the banner and where phones crop it.
How to use the Twitter Banner Maker
- Type a Headline, a Supporting line and your Handle.
- Pick an Accent colour, a Background (Solid, Soft gradient or Subtle grid) and a Text alignment (Left, Centre or Right).
- Tick Show safe-zone guide to see where the profile photo and phone crops fall. The guide is never exported.
- Choose an Export scale and press Download PNG, then upload the file as your header in Edit profile on X.
What size is a Twitter banner?
An X header is 1500x500 pixels, a 3:1 ratio. The profile photo is separate: 400x400 pixels, uploaded square and shown as a circle.
This maker draws at 1500x500 every time, so the file fits without X having to stretch or crop it on upload. Header images can be JPG or PNG, and the download is a PNG, which keeps text sharp.
Where does a Twitter banner get cropped?
On desktop, the round profile photo sits over the lower left of the banner. On narrow screens, a strip is trimmed from the top and the bottom.
Keep your headline and handle away from both. Tick Show safe-zone guide to see the photo area and the crop bands on the preview while you place the text.
